The invention is applicable to the field of suspicious vehicle positioning and provides a suspicious vehicle positioning system and method based on the ultra-wideband wireless positioning technology. The suspicious vehicle positioning system comprises an electronic license plate, at least three base stations and a suspicious vehicle positioning server, wherein the electronic license plate is attached to a vehicle and transmits ultra-wideband pulse signals; the at least three base stations are arranged along the roadside, synchronously connected with one another and used for receiving the ultra-wideband pulse signals and uploading the time when the ultra-wideband pulse signals are received; the suspicious vehicle positioning server is connected to the base stations and used for generating the real-time coordinate of the electronic license plate according to a positioning algorithm and the times uploaded by every base station when the ultra-wideband pulse signals, reading the vehicle identity information stored in the electronic vehicle license, and positioning and tracing the vehicle according to the real-time coordinate of the electronic license plate when the vehicle identity information is suspicious vehicle identity information. According to the suspicious vehicle positioning system and method based on the ultra-wideband wireless positioning technology, the base stations and the electronic vehicle license transfer signals through the ultra-wideband wireless communication technology, so that suspicious vehicles carrying the electronic license plates can be positioned and traced at a high precision.
