To provide a vehicle detector capable of suppressing erroneous recognition that two vehicles traveling continuously is a combination vehicle.SOLUTION: A vehicle detector includes: an acquisition section that acquires scanning information from a laser scanner for scanning a scanning range set at a vehicle detection position on a lane ; a vehicle body detection section that identifies a detection range in a height direction of a detection object existing at the vehicle detection position on the basis of the scanning information and detects a tail of a vehicle traveling the lane; a contact determination section that determines whether or not the detection object on the lane is in contact with a road surface of the lane at the vehicle detection position on the basis of the scanning information after the tail is detected; and a connection determination section that determines whether or not the vehicle is a combination vehicle consisting of a towing vehicle and a towed vehicle when the detection object is determined to be in contact with the road surface.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2

    【課題】連続して走行する二台の車両を連結車両であると誤認識してしまうことを抑制することができる車両検知器を提供する。【解決手段】車両検知器は、車線上の車両検知位置に設定された走査範囲を走査するレーザスキャナからスキャン情報を取得する取得部と、前記スキャン情報に基づいて、前記車両検知位置に存在する検出対象物の高さ方向の検知範囲を特定し、前記車線を走行する車両の車尾を検出する車体検出部と、前記車尾を検出した後、前記スキャン情報に基づいて前記車線上の検出対象物が前記車両検知位置における前記車線の路面に接触しているか否かを判定する接触判定部と、前記検出対象物が前記路面に接触したと判定された場合に、前記車両が牽引車および被牽引車からなる連結車両であるか判定する連結判定部と、を備える。【選択図】図2
