To provide a vehicle detector, a vehicle detection method and a program which can be installed while saving a space and with which it is possible to reduce misdetection.SOLUTION: The vehicle detector comprises: a first distance measuring sensor for detecting a first distance that is a distance to a first position that is a first end part of a vehicle in a vehicle traveling direction on a drive way that the vehicle passes through; a second distance measuring sensor for detecting a second distance that is a distance to a second position that is a second end part of the vehicle upstream or downstream of the first position in the vehicle traveling direction; and a vehicle detection unit for detecting a vehicle passing through the drive way on the basis of the first distance detected by the first distance measuring sensor and the second distance detected by the second distance measuring sensor. The first and second distance measuring sensors are installed so that the radiation direction of the first distance measuring sensor and the radiation direction of the second distance measuring sensor form a prescribed angle.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
