To perform the deceleration traveling to target deceleration/stop points of a vehicle in a most appropriate deceleration traveling mode suitable to a vehicle state of the vehicle, a road condition and a peripheral traffic condition, or according to an intention of a driver on a deceleration traveling method.SOLUTION: A method of controlling energy-saving/low emission gas deceleration traveling comprises: setting a plurality of deceleration traveling modes mainly for inertial travel to target deceleration/stop points of a traveling vehicle, and defining deceleration traveling executable conditions regarding vehicle characteristics/vehicle state, road condition, peripheral traffic condition and the like, for each of the set traveling modes; and performing the deceleration traveling to the target deceleration/stop points in a deceleration traveling mode selected/extracted from the plurality of set deceleration traveling modes, on the basis of the defined deceleration traveling executable conditions, or according to an intention of a driver on the deceleration traveling.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1-1
