In this research study, 57 different vehicles are simulated and evaluated with regard to their energy consumption and local CO2-emissions, based on three vehicle types, respectively a sedan, a sport utility vehicle and a converted lightduty vehicle with 7.5 t of maximum gross weight. Each vehicle type is simulated with different powertrain architectures, which will be suitable for the market in 2040. For each powertrain architecture, the technical specifications for the used components are estimated and extrapolated to the year 2040.
