Teleoperation is becoming increasingly popular in a variety of applications. The core to a successful teleoperation system is the so-called Human Robot Interaction (HRI) design, which aids in the human operator’s situational awareness. Normally, the control operator’s command actions match directly to movement of the controlled vehicle. As a result, a skilled operator is always required. This paper presents a remote assisted piloting system that uses operator’s voice for commands. The proposed platform is universal, scalable, and modular, allowing any no-trained user to drive vehicles, since it is necessary only to voice the instructions of the path that the vehicle is meant to follow. Finally, an implementation is provided to demonstrate the system’s potential.
