The Navy NOVA-II mission is scheduled to be launched June 15, 1988, on a Scout launch vehicle from the Western Space and Missile Center. The NOVA-II satellite is the third launch in a series of improved Transit navigation satellites. The launch vehicle for the NOVA-II will be a Scout G-l configuration, vehicle s-21X, with a 34-inch diameter heatshield. The Scout vehicle will place the spacecraft into an elliptical polar transfer orbit of 179.5 x 490.5 nmi, period of 97.113 minutes, at an inclination of 90.0 degrees. A multiple burn spacecraft hydrazine motor will then be utilized to raise and circularize the orbit to approximately 600 rmi.
