Up to this day extensive model tests and carefully conducted measured-mile trials were carried out on three Belgian cross-channel twin-screw motor ships, two passenger ships and one car-ferry. The three ships were equipped with torsionmeters, two of them had thrustmeters installed. The measured-mile trial data were satisfactory and this allowed the Centre Belge de Recherches Navales to carry out a compared analysis of the propulsive properties of the three ships in smooth water.
