To provide a vehicle position detection apparatus and a vehicle position detection method capable of accurately detecting a position of a railway vehicle even when positioning of the railway vehicle using GNSS cannot be accurately performed.SOLUTION: An on-board apparatus 2 calculates GNSS coordinates by a GNSS reception unit 211, measures a speed of a railway vehicle by a radar speedometer 24, measures acceleration and angular velocity by an acceleration sensor 213 and an angular velocity sensor 214, calculates a position of the railway vehicle Tr on the basis of the GNSS coordinates when a positioning accuracy index of a GNSS signal is equal to or greater than a prescribed value, calculates composite coordinates based on the GNSS coordinates, the speed, and inertial momentum when the positioning accuracy index is below the prescribed value, and calculates the position of the railway vehicle Tr on the basis of the composite coordinates.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2

    【課題】GNSSを利用した鉄道車両の測位が精度よく行なえない場合でも鉄道車両の位置を精度よく検出することが可能な車両位置検出装置および車両位置検出方法を提供する。【解決手段】車上装置2は、GNSS受信部211によりGNSS座標を計算し、レーダ速度計24により鉄道車両の速度を計測し、加速度センサ213および角速度センサ214により加速度および角速度を測定し、GNSS信号の測位精度指標が所定値以上である場合には、GNSS座標に基づいて鉄道車両Trの位置を計算し、測位精度指標が所定値未満である場合には、GNSS座標と、速度と、慣性運動量とに基づく複合座標を計算し、複合座標に基づいて鉄道車両Trの位置を計算する。【選択図】図2
