The recognition system includes: a plurality of peripheral detection sensors 11 that is mounted on the vehicle V and have different detection directions; a recognition processing unit that performs recognition processing of a recognition target feature F included in detection information detected by the peripheral detection sensor 11; a selection unit that selects a peripheral detection sensor 11 as a target sensor 11S that is a part of the plurality of peripheral detection sensors 11 and detects an azimuth in which the possibility of the presence of the recognition target feature F is high based on at least one of the position and azimuth of the vehicle V.
