To provide a vehicle detector capable of highly accurately and easily performing an optical axis adjustment for aligning an optical axis of a light-receiving unit to an optical axis of a light-emitting unit, an adjustment method for the vehicle detector, and a program.SOLUTION: A vehicle detector comprises: a light-emitting/light-receiving unit which is a pair of one light-emitting unit and one light-receiving unit facing each other with a lane interposed therebetween; an operation mode receiving section for receiving a selection of any one of a normal driving mode or an adjustment mode; and an adjustment section for reducing at least one of a light-emitting intensity of the light-emitting unit and a light-receiving sensitivity of the light-receiving unit further than that in the normal driving mode in the case where the operation mode receiving section receives the selection of the adjustment mode.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
