To prevent overdischarge of a power storage unit.SOLUTION: An electric power unit for vehicle has: a first power supply system 51 comprising a lead-acid battery 31 and electrical equipment 43; a second power supply system 52 comprising a starter generator 16 and a lithium-ion battery 32; a switch SW1 which is controlled between a conduction state that the first power supply system 51 and the second power supply system 52 are connected and a cut-off state that the first power supply system 51 and the second power supply system 52 are cut off; a switch control part 64 which controls the switch SW1 between the conduction state and the cut-ff state on the basis of an operation state of the starter generator 16; and a motor control part 63 which executes motor assistance control, that assists an engine 12, by so controlling the starter generator 16 as to be in a power running state. The switch control part 64 so controls the switch SW1 as to be in the conduction state when motor assistance control is executed, and the motor control part 63 prohibits motor assistance control when a battery sensor 45, which detects charge/discharge situation of the lead-acid battery 31, breaks down.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
