To provide a load control device and a load control method that can cope with a change of a load at a low cost.SOLUTION: A plurality of semiconductor relays CH1 to CH4 are provided between a power source and loads 31, 32. Each of the semiconductor relays CH1 to CH4 has a current detection function that detects a current flowing in itself. To output terminals T41 to T44, the loads 31, 32 are connected respectively. A switching unit 11 switches a connection destination of each of the semiconductor relays CH1 to CH4 by arbitrarily selecting it from among the plurality of output terminals T41 to T44. A microcomputer 14 controls the switching unit 11 on the basis of the result of detection of a current flowing in each of the semiconductor relays CH1 to CH4, and adjusts the number of semiconductor relays CH1 to CH4 connected in series with the same loads 31, 32 and connected in parallel with each other.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
