PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inter-vehicular distance control method and an inter-vehicular distance control apparatus, which reduce fear caused to a driver when a preceding vehicle changes from acceleration to deceleration.SOLUTION: An inter-vehicular distance control method, for controlling an inter-vehicular distance between a preceding vehicle and a vehicle itself, includes: calculating an acceleration limit value Aof the vehicle itself, the value with which collision time requiring the vehicle itself to collide with the preceding vehicle is equal to or less than a threshold E, with an assumption that the preceding vehicle decelerates; and limiting the acceleration of the vehicle itself with the acceleration limit value A. Here, in calculating the acceleration limit value A, the collision time requiring the vehicle itself to collide with the preceding vehicle is calculated with an assumption that the preceding vehicle decelerates at constant deceleration, from a calculation start time, then coming to a stop.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2

    【課題】先行車が加速から減速に転じるとき、ドライバーに与える恐怖感を低減する車間距離制御方法と車間距離制御装置を提供すること。【解決手段】先行車と自車との車間距離を制御する車間距離制御方法において、先行車が減速運動をすると仮定した上で、自車が先行車に衝突するまでに要する衝突時間が閾値E以下となる自車の加速度制限値A*TCCを計算する。自車の加速度を、加速度制限値A*TCCにより制限する。ここで、加速度制限値A*TCCを計算するとき、計算開始時点から先行車が一定減速度で減速して停車すると仮定し、自車が先行車に衝突するまでに要する衝突時間を計算する。【選択図】図2
