PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce driver's discomfort and unpleasantness resulting from a change in switching frequency during the running of a hybrid electric vehicle.SOLUTION: A hybrid electric vehicle control system for controlling a hybrid electric vehicle that includes a motor and an engine used as a vehicle drive source or a generator, comprises: a demanded torque calculation unit calculating a demanded torque for the motor and the engine; a frequency change prediction unit predicting a change in a switching frequency at a time of alternately turning on and off a switching element included in an inverter circuit for controlling a current supplied to the motor; and a torque increase control unit increasing a drive torque of the motor from the demanded torque and then permitting the change in the switching frequency if the frequency change prediction unit predicts the change in the switching frequency.
