The present disclosure relates to a method performed by an occupant constellation assessment system (1) for supporting path planning of an automated driving system, ADS (3), of a vehicle (2). The occupant constellation assessment system determines (1001) positions and bodily characteristics of potential occupants of the vehicle. The occupant constellation system further determines (1002) occupant injury risk conditions associated with one or more potential critical events pertinent the positions and the bodily characteristics. Moreover, the occupant constellation system determines (1003) a path planning policy comprising driving manoeuvres constraints for the ADS based on the occupant injury risk conditions.The disclosure also relates to an occupant constellation assessment system in accordance with the foregoing, a vehicle comprising such an occupant constellation assessment system, and a respective corresponding computer program product and nonvolatile computer readable storage medium.
