The method is applied to the seedling slinging system, the seedling slinging system comprises an unmanned aerial vehicle and a seedling slinging mechanism carried on the unmanned aerial vehicle, and the seedling slinging mechanism comprises a plurality of seedling taking subunits which are arranged side by side and used for separating seedlings and slinging seedlings. Judging whether the required first target seedling throwing row number, determined based on the width, of the edge sweeping area is smaller than the maximum seedling throwing row number of a seedling throwing mechanism or not; when the first target seedling throwing row number is smaller than the first target seedling throwing row number, the unmanned aerial vehicle is controlled to fly in the length direction of the edge sweeping area when seedling throwing operation is conducted on the edge sweeping area, and part of the seedling taking subunits of the seedling throwing mechanism are controlled to throw seedlings according to the first target seedling throwing row number, so that the actual seedling throwing row number of the seedling throwing mechanism is matched with the width of the edge sweeping area. In this way, seedling throwing can be completed in a narrow edge sweeping area, and therefore the operation efficiency is improved.
