The invention relates to a transfer robot and a warehousing system. The transfer robot comprises a chassis assembly, a door frame assembly and a taking and placing assembly. The portal assembly is arranged on the chassis assembly; the taking and placing assembly is arranged on one side of the portal assembly and is constructed to move in the height direction along the portal assembly. The pick-and-place assembly comprises a pick-and-place mechanism, and the pick-and-place mechanism is configured to stretch out in the first direction so as to complete pick-and-place of containers in the first direction; and the lifting mechanism is configured to stretch out in a second direction opposite to the first direction so as to pick and place the container in the second direction. According to the transfer robot, the containers on the two adjacent rows of carriers can be taken and placed without steering, so that an operation space for supporting the transfer robot to steer does not need to be reserved between the two rows of carriers, more carriers can be arranged more densely, and the utilization rate of storage space is increased.
