The invention provides an automatic emergency braking system of an electric vehicle and a control method thereof, the automatic emergency braking system comprises an environment sensing module, a decision analysis module and an execution control module, and the decision analysis module is connected with the environment sensing module and the execution control module; the environment sensing module comprises a millimeter wave radar, a sensor and a road surface recognizer; the decision analysis module performs calculation decision on the data converted by the environment sensing module, and transmits an adjusted decision to the execution control module through collision calculation and safety state judgment; the execution control module comprises an alarm device, an electro-hydraulic composite braking device and a motor, the alarm device judges to give an alarm in a pattern or sound form to a driver before braking according to the safety state, and the electro-hydraulic composite braking device controls vehicle hydraulic braking force and motor braking force to conduct composite braking and recovers braking energy. The electric unmanned vehicle can run safely, energy is recycled, and the driving range is prolonged.
