The method comprises the steps that temporary supports and hydraulic jacks are installed on the periphery of a main engine base; a plurality of flat jacks are symmetrically arranged on the left and right sides of the front and rear ends below the host base according to the type size of the host and are connected with hydraulic oil pumps; four dial indicators are symmetrically mounted on the left and right sides of the upper plane of the base at the front and rear ends of the host; the host and the shaft system are centered through hydraulic jacks on the periphery of a host base and a flat jack at the bottom; the host is connected with the shaft system; detecting a crank arm opening value of a host crankshaft, a winding value of a base and a load value of a bearing; casting a main machine epoxy gasket; mounting a main machine foot bolt; the wedge-shaped gaskets are used for installing the main machine side supports and the end supports. The method for adjusting the high-low position of the main engine of the large ship is simple, convenient and easy to operate, low in cost and wide in application range, the installation efficiency of the main engine can be improved, the installation precision of the main engine can be guaranteed, and therefore the purposes of remarkably improving the quality and improving the efficiency are achieved.
