The invention discloses an overline operation train operation optimization method and system based on virtual marshalling. The method comprises the steps that a local train and an overline train operate in an independent marshalling mode; the local train controller judges whether a front section is a collinear section of the local train and the overline train or not, if yes, virtual marshalling of the local train and the overline train is achieved based on train-train communication, and the local train and the overline train are virtually coupled into a large marshalling train; and the line train controller judges whether the front section is a single-line section or not, and if yes, a large marshalling train is divided into two small marshalling trains based on train-train communication virtual decoupling.
