The invention discloses an electric vehicle braking control method and an electric vehicle with the same. The electric vehicle braking control method comprises the steps that a whole vehicle controller obtains a braking scene of the electric vehicle; if the electric vehicle is in the conventional braking scene, when a first condition is met, the whole vehicle controller sends an upshift instruction to the gearbox controller; and if the electric vehicle is in the auxiliary braking scene, when a second condition is met, the whole vehicle controller sends an upshift instruction to the gearbox controller. The braking control method of the electric vehicle has the advantages of being large in recovery power, high in energy recovery efficiency and stable in speed reduction.
