A vehicle and an obstacle avoidance assistance method thereof can perform obstacle avoidance assistance control by tracking a previously sensed obstacle deviating from a sensing area of a sensor. The obstacle avoidance assistance method of the vehicle includes: detecting at least one obstacle in the vicinity of the vehicle using a proximity sensor; determining a driving range corresponding to a predicted driving trajectory of a body of the vehicle based on the gear and the steering angle; determining at least one effective obstacle from the at least one detected obstacle based on the driving range; and outputting a warning about the determined at least one valid obstacle.
