The invention relates to a parking assistance device comprising an electronic control unit (14). The electronic control unit (14) sets a target speed pattern, which is a target for the vehicle speed of the vehicle (1), in such a manner that the vehicle (1) is accelerated at a prescribed acceleration from a guidance start position, is decelerated at a first deceleration during a period in which a remaining distance from a target parking position, which is a target position at which the vehicle (1) is parked, is from a first remaining distance position to a second remaining distance position that is smaller than the first remaining distance, and is decelerated at a second deceleration greater than the first deceleration during a period from the position of the second remaining distance to the target parking position. The electronic control unit (14) performs brake drive control of the vehicle (1) on the basis of the target speed pattern.
