The invention relates to path planning for autonomous and semi-autonomous vehicles. A method for path planning of an autonomous or semi-autonomous vehicle includes obtaining a drivable region of an environment of the vehicle, and generating a path for a time step t within the drivable region based on a predetermined constraint set and a predetermined set of characteristics of the path. The predetermined constraint set includes at least one constraint based on a path generated for a previous time step.
