The invention provides an auxiliary braking system for mistakenly stepping on an accelerator. The system comprises a vehicle control unit, the vehicle control unit can judge whether it is normal acceleration or mistakenly stepping on an accelerator according to voltage signals input by a pedal pressure sensor installed on an accelerator pedal and an electronic accelerator installed on an engine. The method for judging whether it is normal acceleration or mistakenly stepping on an accelerator comprises the steps that the pedal pressure sensor is adopted to detect whether the pressure applied tothe accelerator pedal reaches a safety threshold value or not; the safety threshold may employ a pressure applied to the accelerator pedal when an electronic accelerator is at a maximum opening or apressure applied to the accelerator pedal when the accelerator pedal is stepped to an extreme position. According to the system and the method, the process of judging whether it is normal accelerationor mistakenly stepping on an accelerator can be intelligently and accurately carried out in real time, so that the driving safety can be fundamentally and effectively improved.
