The invention discloses a climbing robot, comprising two climbing units which are arranged at an upper side and a lower side respectively and a plurality of lifting mechanisms which are arranged between the two climbing units, wherein the lifting mechanisms drive the two climbing units to move alternately along an object to realize climbing of the climbing robot; and the top of the rack of the climbing unit at the upper side and/or the bottom of the rack of the climbing unit at the lower side are/is provided with bearing platforms/a bearing platform in slip connection with the racks/rack. By virtue of the design of the annular climbing units, the climbing robot disclosed by the invention has relatively strong load capability, so that people and equipment can be carried when the robot is climbing trees so as make convenience for scientific research personnel to research the growth states of the trees; and the bearing platform which is arranged at the top or bottom and can rotate along the circumferential direction of the rack is used for loading measurement equipment so as make convenience for measuring the trees along the circumferential direction.
