Ever-increasing performance and quality requirements for passenger tires has kindled new interest in NDT in tire industry; ultrasonics techniques were successfully developed for measuring thread thickness and thread uniformity; methods described here, combined with radiographic procedures, can provide practical solution for ND inspection of passenger tire characteristics; however, many of techniques, equipment and interpretation procedures can also be applied to trucks, airplanes, etc. (47474)
