The results of exposure test in marine environment of Okinawa for 5 years. The concentration of chloride ions in concrete were about 3000-4000 ppm at the 2 cm of surface of concrete with exposed in marine environment and more slowly decreased at deeper position, but they are tended to increases again near the bar. For bare bars of non-cracked concrete specimens after 5 years, cover concrete cracked by the expanding force of red rust, then, maximum depth of pits were as deep as 2.8 mm with concrete covering depth 2 cm in marine atmosphere. For galvanized bar, a maximum depth of pit as deep as 0.9 mm when the concrete covering depth was 2 cm with non-cracked and seawater, maximum depth of pit was deep from 3 mm to 4 mm with cracked. Epoxy coated bar without coating damage did not corrode, irrespective of covering depth, mixing water, cracking concrete and exposed to environment. The corroded pit with coating damage are smaller than bare and galvanized bars.
