The purpose of this work is to detect, to locate and to size the surface defects of immersed objects or structures. A beam focused ultrasonic sensor is used for providing the data. This special sensor is handled by a mini robot in order to achieve the scanning of object surface. The system is controlled by a microcomputer which generates the command signals, performs the acquisition of data, and process the data.
