A test management system is an ideal platform for simulation of the entire test process. The integration of automated tests - with defined transfer of test results to the test management system-supplements manually acquired test data. These data can consequently be evaluated from one source in consolidated form. Quality Statements are enhanced by quantifiable testing depth with respect to project requirements. Such quality statements are possible at any point in time during the course of the project. The data collected in a test management System represent a store of expertise for the test process, and can be used again for ongoing projects. This approach enables the application of standardized quality-assurance processes such as ISO and SPICE. In the automotive industry, the required great number of vehicle tests and trial runs have made critically necessary the offline processing of testing processes, as well as error acquisition, in a test management system. The versatility of these tests, the volume of the individual features to be tested, and the resulting possible combination of tests can in the future be effectively handled only with an appropriate test management System.
