A modified Bouc-Wen dynamical model of magneto-rheological dampers is considered and its parameters are obtained by using GA (Genetic Algorithms). The model parameters are determined using a set of experimental measurements corresponding to different constant current values. The resulting model is validated on the data measured for variable current. Finally, the model is used to study by numerical simulation the effect of a skyhook semi-active fuzzy controller on vehicle ride comfort and road holding improvement.
