An analytical method for determination of dynamical rail irregularity was developed from a function of vertical displacement of the tram wheel centre separated from the wheel tyre by viscoelastic elements. The theoretical considerations were illustrated with a numerical example where vertical accelerations of the typical wheel centre (damping constants 16.5 kNs/m to 31 kNs/m, elasticity constants 500 kN/m to 3000 kN/m) were determined using a computer 'Mathematica' program.
