Designing energy-absorbing constructions of cars, machines, yachts or airplanes is connected with a stress and strain analysis of a non-linear process. The finite-element method was used for analyzing laminar construction of a car bumper. To described the dynamic failure of the bumper material, the elasticity, plasticity and viscoelasticity of the steel-polyurethane-steel, polyethylene terephthalate-polyurethane-polyethylene terephthalate, and polyacrylamide-polyurethane-polyacrylamide systems were taken into consideration. The applicability and efficiency of the construction were confirmed by the results of the study.
