Bullet-proof vests consisting of a water-tight ballistic pack (Kevlar, Twaron or Dyneema fabrics) and of outer textile cover are produced in Belarus. To improve the protective materials and make them resistant to knife, skewer or other sharp tool impact, a three-layer hardened steel-strip laminate was designed, where 2 protective layers are mobile 0.5 mm thick strips and overlap at bending. The whole system shows, therefore, a high elasticity although the protective layers are quite thick. In the third layer, the 0.2 mm thick cold-rolled steel strips are arranged perpendicularly to the protective layer strips to clamp them, fasten the whole system and make it elastic. The elasticity of the third strip layer was mathematically modelled to optimize its shape. The system was found resistant to the side-arm up to impact energy 40 J. After 15000 bendings (90 deg of angle, radius 20 mm), no symptoms of fatigue of the system were observed.
