In modern high speed train systems the specific power of a locomotive is increased when compared to traditional trains, while at the same time the higher speed of the trains increases the probability of skidding phenomena and of the loss of wheel-rail adhesion. In this paper the phenomenon is considered theoretically in general and are analyzed some particular aspects by means of a locomotive bogie simulator. The scale-model is described and a re-adhesion control strategy set up utilizing also the results of the validation conducted on the simulator, is presented. The control strategy is validated through simulation.
