The friction contributes to a deformation of metal sheets at forming motor-car bodies by pressing or pull broaching. The friction coefficients were affected by using some efficient lubricants at processing of deep-drawing and tinned steel sheets. The effects of lubricants and the tool geometry on the value of cup thinning was analyzed by computer simulation with an OPTRIS & FICTURE program. The safe deformation of steel sheets can be increased by 15 % to 30 % when suitable technological lubricants (oil-in-water emulsions) were used.
