The Dynamic Ground Target Simulator (DGTS) is a real-time interactive simulation system which produces detailed scenarios of military unit activity to support the development of command and control systems. This paper describes some of the battlefield simulation models that have been constructed using the DGTS system and the modelling techniques that have been used to simulate various types of battlefield activities. As a secondary theme, the structured methodology used to develop battlefield activity simulation models is described. This methodology includes requirements analysis, design, implementation, testing and debugging, and documentation.
