Due to continued increases in air travel, airlines need to handle reservations more efficiently with automatic ticket printing and quick boarding pass issuance. To meet this demand, Hitachi developed the HT-590/61 Airline System, which consists of display terminals for reservations, ticket printers for printing tickets and a boarding pass printer for issuing boarding passes. The capabilities and features of the HT-590/61 Airline Terminal System installed in Japan Air Lines' reservation system are described in this paper.
