West Europe countries are taking major steps toward outfitting their ground attack aircraft with laser rangefinders to improve weapon delivery accuracy. The decision is motivated primarily by the desire to queeze more accuracy from existing radar-equipped aircraft during low levels flights when radar returns are swamped by ground clutter at low grazing angles.
