Full scale dynamic tests were made of fifteen designs of traffic barriers for use in highway medians (center strips). The object of this series of tests was to develop efficient barriers for use in freeway construction. A new barrier design was developed as previously reported (Reference 1), and several installations are now in place on California highways and are proposed elsewhere. The object of this report is to present detailed technical findings of collisions with three different classes of highway traffic barriers and to outline the procedures and data reduction methods employed for this study.
