This paper reviews the progress which has been realized in constant speed drives, generators, and control equipment for today’s constant frequency electric systems for aircraft. Equipment evolution over the past twenty years is discussed with particular reference to meeting the ever-increasing requirements of the air vehicle, while continually minimizing generating equipment weight.
