The U.S. Army Mobility Equipment Research and Development Center has designed, fabricated, and tested a mooring-construction system in which each component is transportable in a C-130 aircraft. The function of the system is to bestablish a mooring capable of accommodating a T-2 tanker (16,500 DWT) or a T-5 tanker (25,000 DWT) at an offshore location while bulk fuel is discharged through pipelines or hoselines to onshore storage facilities. The system is designed for beach-to-sea installation within 48 hours after arriving at the beach worksite. (Author)
