The OSTA-3 is one of a series of Earth observation payloads planned to fly on the Shuttle. The OSTA-3 payload consists of three Earth resources applications experiments and one technology experiment. Of these four experiments, three are reflights from the successful OSTA-1 payload flown aboard STS-2 in November of 1981. The fourth experiment, the Large Format Camera, will be flown for the first time. The objectives of OSTA-3 are to evaluate advanced remote sensing techniques for Earth observations and improve the knowledge of processes and environmental conditions on our planet. The enclosed Mission Operation Report contains specific details pertinent to the OSTA-3 mission and its payload. Details of the STS 41-G mission are contained in the STS 41-G Flight Operation Report No. M-989-41-G. Details of the ERBS are contained in the ERBS Mission Operation Report No. E-420-41-G-10.
