The impact statement covers the aspects of the construction of an 11-mile section of two-lane undivided rural highway in Rutherford and Cannon counties. Primary beneficial results include the relief of present and future traffic congestion, the elimination of features which have become driving and safety hazards, and the provision for a more improved east-west route to traverse central Tennessee. Adverse environmental effects are the displacement of a few residences, some loss of trees, agricultural land, wildlife habitat, etc. as a reult of increased land demands for highway right-of-way, and a temporary degradation of water quality due to increased sedimentation during the construction phase and rainy periods.
