The activities of the French Space Agency robotics laboratory are strongly related to the Hermes Robot Arm (HERA) project. With the purpose of providing the HERA team with an experimental support, a testbed was built to simulate some specific HERA tasks such as satellite grasping and berthing of Hermes with the Man Tended Free Flyer (MTFF) of Columbus. This set-up gives the possibility to analyze the operator performances as far as teleoperation ergonomy is concerned. The objectives of the tests performed are reviewed and an in-depth description of the test facility is given. Strong emphasis is put on test results.
