Gemini V will be the third manned orbital flight in the Gemini Program, and the fifth of twelve missions. Previous missions have proven the success of orbital insertion, structural integrity, and nominal systems performance. Gemini IV demonstrated the feasibility of four-day duration and extravehicular activity. On Gemini V, an even longer mission duration will be undertaken. In addition, the rendezvous and guidance system will be evaluated by using the rendezvous evaluation pod. The spacecraft and launch vehicle is shown
