The report presents results obtained from testing at the G.A. Riedesel Pavement Testing Facility at Washington State University during the period from February 11 to May 4, 1972. The purpose of this project was fourfold: to determine pavement wear caused by studded tires; to evaluate the resistance of different pavement materials and textures used in the states of Washington and Idaho to wear caused by tire studs; to test pavement materials and overlays to reduce tire stud damage; and to study the effect of studded truck tires on pavements.
