The project proposes to reconstruct state highway 72 from state highway 239 to Main Street in Kenedy. Length of project = 10,830.0 ft. = 2.051 mi. with approximately 1.0 mi. on existing location and approximately 1.0 mi. on new location. Texas, Karnes County and the City of Kenedy will be affected. The proposed improvement consists of constructing a new 24' pavement with 10' paved shoulders. The environmental impacts of the proposed improvement (Location A) are: Increased urbanization; decreased agricultural usage, and benefit in traffic movement and traffic safety. The adverse environmental effects are: Temporary destruction of vegetation, temporary erosion problems, increased traffic congestion and traffic noise, and some reduction in traffic for several businesses.
