On the basis of experience gained during the German Experimental Ship Station project, the route taken by a ship was remotely monitored with the aid of a ship-shore satellite data link (TRANSIT/MARISAT). Analysis of the data resulted in a graphic plot of the ship's route. Standard commercial hardware was used.
